DD1 - 24 month update

> Age of your EC-child...
24 months

> We started at...
3.5 months

> Generally speaking we are doing...
Great.  Jane graduated at 23 months, and we are thrilled.  We do still have occasional misses, but usually they are in the bathroom in front of the toilet.

> How do you know your baby has to go? Baby's signals? Timing? Intuition? Is there a difference for poos and pees?
She just goes.  Many times she does want me to come with her, and I understand most of the time.  I sometimes wish that she would just go by herself, but I need to remember that she will be wanting me out of the bathroom soon enough.

> Which positions/receptacles do you use?
We use the toilet with insert, BB potty chair, BBLP, toilet, squatting outside and sometimes the baby potty bowl (she made a mess the first time only!).  She often goes without our help or knowledge and even empties potties herself.  Potty turtlenecks do make it harder for toddlers to empty potties independently and seem to require more frequent washing of the turtleneck.  She is not very good at dumping poos yet, and we occasionally find pee in a potty without knowing how or when it got there.

> Do you use diapers or training pants? On what occasions, what kind of diapers?
We use size 2/3 underwear.

> How are you doing away from home?
We do very well away from home, but we seem to have trouble relaxing when I hold her up on a big toilet.  She prefers to have an insert for sitting on the big potty.

> What are you doing at night?
We respond to her requests to go potty.  We have a potty by her bed, and I often encourage her to use that potty before one of our morning nursing session.

> Who takes baby to the potty?
Herself, me, DH and teenage babysitter

> Accidents - how many do you have and what times are especially accident-prone?
Occasional accidents do occur.  Usually these are in front of the toilet.

> Other new insights:
She really does help a lot with her sister.  Sometimes she makes me feel silly for not recognizing her sisterís cue.

> What do you like most about ecíing at the moment?
Celebrating that we are diaper free and potty trained before her second birthday is a blessing.  We were so close to being in a long-term relationship with disposables, but we escaped that misery.

> Do you ever wish you'd have never heard about it?
No.  Handling her elimination in a culturally acceptable way has challenged me in many ways.
