DS1 - 2 week update

> Age of your EC-child...
2 weeks

> We started at...
Birth

> Generally speaking we are doing...
Great! We enjoy the communication about his pottying needs.

> How do you know your baby has to go? Baby's signals? Timing? Intuition? Is there a difference for poos and pees?
He grunts and is not interested in nursing. Upon waking is another common time, but he doesn't always need to go at wakeup times either.

> Which positions/receptacles do you use?
For daytime we us the classic hold (sometimes cradle-like classic) over the bathroom sink. For night I hold him in a reclined position over a clear potty with potty warmer. I leave the front of the prefold tucked into the prefold belt to catch overshots around the splashguard. Positioning and holding has gotten

> Do you use diapers or training pants? On what occasions, what kind of diapers?
We use prefolds infant and preemie with prefold belt. He is typically also wrapped with a wool receiving blanket.

> How are you doing away from home?
Well, we went out once . . . and he peed and pood a few times, and we caught it all in our cloth backup.

> What are you doing at night?
We offer the potty on wakings if nursing does not settle him or if I am fairly certain he is waking to pee.

> Who takes baby to the potty?
Mainly me, DH and grandma too

> Accidents - how many do you have? What times are especially accident-prone?
I dont really consider anything an accident right now . . . well, maybe there were a couple of poo misses that didnt make it all in the cloth. But those dont begin to compare to our worst blow-out ever when we were a full-time disposable diapering family that had never considered or heard of elimination communication.

> Other new insights:
Newborn EC is so cool!!

> What do you like most about ecing at the moment?
It feels really great to respond to his elimination needs in a way that he enjoys.

> Do you ever wish you'd have never heard about it?
No.

> Tips for this stage . . .
Keeping laundry reasonable is our biggest challenge it seems. Having lots of prefolds available really helps.
